ECCO 3050

Advance sport technology makes the ECCO RXP 3050 Running Shoe a delight for the serious runner.

The foot is supported and protected in a multitude of ways, from the triple density EVA midsole, to the plantear fascia bridge (PFB), which supports the great ligament, to the DynaThane encapsulated in the forefoot for shock-absorption.

Flexibility in the forefoot and the PFB increase responsiveness and encourage natural movement of the foot through the stride cycle. The design of this shoe makes it ideal for the neutral to light pronator. The breathable textile uppers have synthetic overlays and come in gray and green.

Olympic Marathon Medal Hopes Stride Forward with Jon Brown Cleared to Run for Canada

He has finished 4 th in the last two Olympic Marathons, his personal best is 2:09:31 and he’s lived in Victoria, B.C. since 1996 – yet marathoner Jon Brown is almost unknown in this country. After this summer’s Beijing Olympics, however, he may become a recognized name in Canada.

Brown received his Canadian citizenship in 2005, but continued to compete for the United Kingdom until 2007. After having his British lottery funding cut, allegedly due to his age and history of injuries, Brown made the tough decision to switch allegiances.

Before being allowed to compete in Canadian colours however, Brown had to clear waivers with both the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the British Athletics Association. This clearance finally occurred on January 22 nd, which means that he can now begin the rigorous Canadian Olympic qualifying process.

In running 2:11 in his only marathon in 2007, Brown has already taken the first step towards competing for Canada in Beijing. His time is well under the Canadian Olympic marathon standard of 2:12:38. However, the time was run while Brown was still representing the UK and incredibly, may not be accepted by the Canadian Olympic Committee! Brown plans on leaving nothing to chance, as he is scheduled to compete in the 2008 Tokyo Marathon on February 17 th and hopes achieve the Canadian Olympic qualifying standard again. It would be an understatement to say that we are all hopeful to see Jon Brown compete for Canada in Beijing and bring home a medal for his adopted country.

While he has not received the accolades to which he certainly deserves here in Canada, Jon Brown is a well-known figure in the United Kingdom, and not only in the marathon. Brown, 36, has been competing on the International scene for well over a decade. Among his accomplishments are British records of 27:18.14 for 10,000m (the Canadian record of 27:36 is held by Vancouver’s Jeff Schiebler) and 1:01:49 for the Half-marathon. Brown is also a former European Cross Country Champion.
