Dan has been running since head bands were in style. In the early 80's Dan ran middle distance, 600m, 800m, 1000m, and dreaded the concept of a "long run" - (more than 6 miles). He was a member of the University of Calgary Dinos Track and Cross Country teams. In 1986 he won the Alberta College Association Cross Country Championships.
After years of running 10 k road races, on a whim, he signed up for New York City Marathon. With the energy of the runners, the spectators and the excitment of the course came a new passion. Dan has since run 12 marathons and 3 Ironman Traithlons.
Favourite running moment: Running the last half mile of the NYC Marathon along Central Park South and turning into Central Park approaching the finish line.
Favourite shoe: Ecco RXP 3040 - My perfect shoe for high mileage with a very comfortable fit.
Marathons: NYC (2), Calgary, Boston (2), Quebec City, Marine Corp (Washington D.C.), Chicago, Saint John, Toronto & The Great Wall of China Marathon.
Ironman Canada (2) & Ironman France
Dan has also been extensively involved in the community. He is the President of the Calgary Spartans Track Club, Chair of the Run Canada Committee and Chair of the Fast and Female Foundation and a member of the Calgary Marathon Society Board.
