Or… Nuun, Goodr and Vuori Hoodie/sweatpants (soooooo soft).

Interests: Downhill and cross-country skiing, cooking & hosting, my boys hockey and activities and … any social activities with friends and family!!!

Favourite place to run: Anywhere along a beach path or trail, but not on the beach sand 

Road or Trail: I run more road, but enjoy mixing it up with trail.

Favourite running shoe (Trail and/or Road): This is totally like picking a favourite child.  I cannot pick one, so many are so good for different reasons!! The one I use the most is the Ghost but it’s as exciting as a cheese pizza. However, it’s a reliable, predictable, dependable workhorse and get the job done correctly.  

Favourite place to run: Locally: Fish Creek Globally: New Zealand

Road or Trail: Again, favourite child dilemma!! Love the road for convenience and speed but my happy place is the trails.

Favourite race distance: Arrgh! I cannot pick one! 10ks are fun and fast, half marathons are an effort that’s right on the edge and marathons push beyond limits, making for an unbeatable feeling of gratitude at the finish line!

Interests: Running (lol!), spending time with my family, walking our dog, skiing, camping, hiking, yoga, mountain biking, swimming, reading, cooking and baking.

Favourite race distance: The 5Peaks Enduro distances. So fun! 10-15km.

Store location: Mainly Fish Creek, but sometimes Marda Loop in the summers.

Favourite running shoe: New Balance Rebel for style and comfort. Now if only they would fit my feet.

Favourite place to run: Bottle Bay Road, Sagle Idaho for training purposes (it’s hilly and quiet, not much to see through the trees though). Ma’alaea beach, Maui for the serenity (It’s Maui, come on there isn’t a spot on that island I wouldn’t run along for the views alone). I might also need to include my home turf the north ridge of Fish Creek, especially for the completely open view of the sunset (and then hoping the wind doesn’t hold a personal grudge against you heading back west).

Road or trail: For convenience definitely road, but trail keeps things much more interesting, and let’s me enjoy the run much more than just putting in the miles.

Favourite race distance: I’m probably biased to the results for the 1500, which is my favourite, but the 400 hurdles and 3000 steeplechase are a close second and third.

3 must haves: Goodrs (plural), Brooks run hoppy crew socks, and North Face Sierra gloves for my stupid hands that complain at the tiniest bit of cold.

Interests: Running(duh), skiing (both XC and downhill), golf, craft beer (the hoppier the better).

Anywhere for 2 weeks: If it’s in the winter-somewhere in the Swiss Alps, maybe Zermatt. For the summer-torn between New Zealand and Greece.

If you could go anywhere in the world for 2 weeks, where would you go? Any white and beach lots of water activities (sailboats, scuba, snorkeling, surfing, boogie boarding). 

I’ve run since 1989, I started training more regularly with a local running group in 1991 and later became a competitive masters runner. I’ve run 100+ marathons (50 of these under 3 hours) and 700+ track, cross-country and road races in various cities and countries. Was inducted into the Calgary Marathon Hall of Fame in 2012. I’ve also run the ‘Rim to Rim to Rim’ double-crossing of the Grand Canyon in a day.

I’ve coached a long-standing training group of runners of various ages and abilities for over 10 years.

We welcome any runner to our Wednesday night drop in group who is looking to train at a moderate level – anyone who’s finished a 5k or 10k and can cover 7-10K in an hour. Our workouts are generally targeted for improving times in distances between 5 and 21K.

The group is free to join, and there are rumors of post-run beverages at the Garrison Pub each week as well!

How do you feel about putting pineapple on pizza? It is the highest form of pizza yet discovered.

Asia – we spent 2 weeks in Singapore and Thailand this past Christmas,
and only explored a small amount of this amazing area of the world. Need
to head back for more adventures and discoveries.
